چکیده
The impact of climate factors on the seasonality squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) diagnoses is not well understood. We identified 1061 SCC patients (median age=78) in Rhode Island, a state with four distinct seasons, from 2017-2019. Due to known effects organ transplants and indoor tanning development, past medical history either were excluded; recurrent cases also included. Dates 1338 996 collected calculate proportion per month. Relationships between average monthly values 2017-2019 evaluated Spearman’s rank-order correlations. Climate included UV index, ambient temperature, humidity, cloudiness, air pressure, number days sun, hours sunlight, volume precipitation. Our results show that rose beginning February peaked May, consistent levels throughout mid-summer late fall (July-November). There significant positive correlations (p<0.05) sun month diagnosis (r=0.77) prior (r=0.75) diagnosis. Other weather these months, including temperature significantly positively correlated When analyzed separately, high UV-exposed sites, head neck distal extremities (n=1031), showed similar correlation same (r=0.71) following (r=0.66). was slight delay influence low body trunk proximal extremities, (n=307); while correlated, variable at one two months (r=0.83) frequency. These suggest have seasonal variation some variables, particularly may play role patterns SCC.

Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Clinical Study
Background and Objectives: Squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue (SCCOT) is the most common malignant neoplasm in oral cavity. At the time of the diagnosis of SCCOT regional metastases with a high mortality rate are common, which is due to the extensive lymphatic system drainage of the tongue. Although the level of healthcare has significantly improved, the survival rate is still low with an...
متن کاملThe Usefulness of CD10 in Distinguishing between Cutaneous Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background & Objectives: CD10 is a cell surface enzyme with metalloendopeptidase activity, also known as Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Antigen, which mainly serves as a marker for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). To date and to the best of our knowledge, only few comparative immunohistochemical studies have assessed CD10 expression in cutaneous epithelial neoplasms. Our goal was to d...
متن کاملIncidence of Etiologic Factors in Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Head and Neck in Ahvaz
Introduction: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common head and neck malignancy. Smoking, alcohol consumption, viral infections, exposure, oral hygiene, and dietary, genetic, and occupational factors are the most important etiologic factors. The aim of this study was determining the incidence of etiologic factors in head and neck SCC. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectiona...
متن کاملCytodiagnosis of Cutaneous Basal and Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background and Objective: Cutaneous cytology is the study of scraping or smears obtained from skin lesions. Although not commonly employed, cutaneous cytology has been a useful tool for clinicians due to simplified procedures and high sensitivity and specificity of presurgical clinical diagnosis of commo...
متن کاملContagious Yawning and Seasonal Climate Variation
Recent evidence suggests that yawning is a thermoregulatory behavior. To explore this possibility further, the frequency of contagious yawning in humans was measured while outdoors in a desert climate in the United States during two distinct temperature ranges and seasons (winter: 22°C; early summer: 37°C). As predicted, the proportion of pedestrians who yawned in response to seeing pictures of...
